Chapter 11

A Familiar Face

A wave of anticipation washes over Jasper as he approaches Flora's doorstep. He takes a deep breath, steeling himself for what lies ahead. He raises his hand and knocks, his heart pounding with a mix of excitement and nerves.

The door creaks open, and there she stands - Flora, the woman who bears an uncanny resemblance to Yuliana. Her eyes widen in surprise as she takes in Jasper's presence. He studies her face, searching for any hint of recognition or familiarity.

"Can I help you?" Flora asks, her voice tinged with curiosity.

Jasper clears his throat, trying to steady his voice. "I...I'm sorry to bother you. My name is Jasper, and I couldn't help but notice how much you resemble someone I used to know."

Flora furrows her brow, her gaze scrutinizing Jasper. "Who is this person you're talking about?"

"Her name is Yuliana," Jasper replies, his voice trembling with a mixture of hope and apprehension. "She was my childhood sweetheart, and we were separated many years ago."

A flicker of recognition passes through Flora's eyes, but she quickly masks it with a blank expression. "I'm sorry, but I don't know anyone by that name," she says, her voice sounding distant.

Jasper's heart sinks, disappointment flooding his senses. He had hoped that Flora held some answers, some connection to Yuliana. But her denial only fuels his determination to uncover the truth.

"Please, I beg you," Jasper pleads, his voice tinged with desperation. "There must be something you remember, some resemblance or memory that could help me find Yuliana."

Flora's eyes dart away, her fingers nervously playing with the edge of her dress. "I...I'm sorry, but I can't help you," she stammers, her voice barely audible.

Jasper's resolve strengthens as he senses Flora's hesitation. He takes a step closer, reaching out to gently touch her arm. "Please, Flora. I can see it in your eyes. There's something you're not telling me."

Flora's gaze meets his, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "I...I never wanted to get involved in any of this," she admits, her voice quivering. "But I suppose the truth must come out eventually."

Jasper's heart races with anticipation as Flora finally opens up, her voice filled with a mixture of sadness and regret. She tells him about the day she stumbled upon a hidden letter, a letter that revealed her true identity as Yuliana.

"It was like a punch to the gut," Flora whispers, tears streaming down her face. "I discovered that I was living a lie, that my entire life had been a charade."

Jasper's breath catches in his throat as he listens, his mind racing to make sense of Flora's revelation. He realizes that he has stumbled upon a web of deceit and secrets, all intertwined with Yuliana's past.

"But why did you pretend to be someone else?" Jasper asks, his voice filled with confusion and concern.

Flora takes a deep breath, her eyes locking with Jasper's. "I did it to seek revenge," she admits, her voice filled with determination. "Jean, the man who murdered my father, he had to pay for his crimes. And Yuliana... she had to find justice too."

Jasper's mind whirls with a mixture of emotions - shock, anger, and an overwhelming sense of admiration for Flora's bravery. He realizes that he has been thrust into a world far more complex and dangerous than he could have ever imagined.

As Flora's words sink in, Jasper knows that their paths are now irrevocably intertwined. They must work together, uncovering the truth and seeking justice for Yuliana and Flora's father. And in the midst of their quest, Jasper wonders if their connection can withstand the weight of their shared past and the trials that lie ahead.
